General Rules and Regulations for Mille Miglia 2008Art. 1 - Demonstration and Date: A.T.I. is composed of MAC Events, Meet Comunicazione and Sanremorally, of which MAC Events is the head and agent (A.T.I. will be referred to simply as MAC Events in the rest of the article). Thanks to an agreement with the Brescia Automobile Club (owners of the “Mille Miglia” trademark) MAC Events is organising the 2008 edition of the Mille Miglia Rally, a competition for historic vehicles. The rally will be from Thursday 15th May to Sunday 18th May 2008 (with advance confirmation on Wednesday 14 May 2008 for those who have already participated in the original Mille Miglia, the official car manufacturer teams and famous drivers.) Art. 2 - General and Definitive Programmes: By General Programmes we mean programmes which are still being elaborated, concerning both structures to be used and the towns and cities to be incorporated in the route. A.T.I. MAC Events commits to following what is indicated in the Definitive Programme. However, if one or more of the services is unavailable (due to unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances), MAC Events reserves the right to substitute them with structures and services of equivalent value. Art. 3 - Regularity of Historical Vehicles: The route (which is currently being defined and approved by the authorities) will follow the original course, divided in three legs from Brescia to Ferrara, Ferrara to Rome, and Rome to Ferrara. Nine Time Checks and 49 Time Trials (timed to the hundredth of a second) and penalties for arrival either late and early are foreseen. A final general classification, and further group classifications will be drawn up. The groups will be selected following age and other criteria described in detail below. Timing will be carried out by Graphics Telecom and by Microplus and the measurements will be taken through pressure switches and printers. Regulations refer to the rules laid out in C.S.A.I. 2008. Art. 4 - Acceptance of Cars: Participation in the Mille Miglia is limited to cars, or cars of similar make and model, that were made between 1927 and 1957 and participated in at least one of the original races. All cars must be original, no replicas or partial replicas will be admitted. All cars must comply with FIVA and FIA regulations, which require that only vehicles with regular official certification participate. According to the international regulations, cars are required to have a FIA Heritage certificate and/or Passport FIVA, issued by the home country federation (NSA). As is customary, the number of cars participating is 375.Seeing as applications are often more than the places available, a strict rotation criteria will be observed. The following have precedence:
Under no circumstances can any car built after 1957 participate. However, a certain number of cars built before 1927 may participate, provided models of these took part in the Mille Miglia up to and including 1930. Art. 5 - Coefficients: Coefficients are assigned to the participating cars according to their manufacturing year as well as all technical, competitive and historic characteristics, taking the following elements into account:
The coefficient is calculated using a mathematical formula, shown on the site and available on-line along with the acceptance of the car. It will also be confirmed in the letter of acceptance. Art. 6 - Drivers, Navigators, and Passengers: For each vehicle a crew of one or two people may be registered. One person is the driver and the other is the navigator. The participant/driver (and the navigator intending to alternate with the driver) must be in possession of a CSAI licence, or a valid permit. A permit can be given to particpants/drivers, or foreign navigators and/or drivers on condition that the holder be in possession of a medical certificate stating that he/she is in good health. Only bearers of a valid driving licence may drive the vehicles. Art. 7 - Participation FeeThe € 5,500.00 fee (VAT incl.) covers:
Art. 9 - Applications: Applications can be sent to the address below from 1 November to 31 December 2007. By this date, aspiring participants must register on the website and obtain a login name and password and fill in the 9-step on-line registration form. The following documents must be sent on-line:
A non transferable bank draft of € 5.500,00 for the deposit, made out to MAC Events S.r.l. must be sent at the same time as the on-line registration to MAC Events S.r.l. - Mille Miglia, Corso Torino, 1/7 - 16129 Genova - Italy by registered letter indicating the registration number. Any incomplete or false applications, or applications without documentation, or without photographs or deposit will not be considered. The date that the bank draft is received is the official registration date. For information on the status of your application, visit the webpage. Confirmation and acceptance will be published in a reserved area of the website on 31 January 2008. After that date participants will receive written confirmation by registered letter. If your application is not accepted the deposit will be returned by bank draft. In order to substitute any resignations between the confirmation and the beginning of the rally, a waiting list will be drawn up, and some of the excluded vehicles will be accepted. Placement in the waiting list will be communicated along with the letter of refusal. Art. 10 - Objections: The cost of supplying services, advertising expenses, the printing and distribution of programmes, etc., make up the final participation price. The organisers will not, in any case, accept objections to the final entry fee. The fee is retained appropriate for the accommodation and services offered.Art. 11 - Withdrawals: Written notice of partial or complete cancellation of participation in the rally must be sent to MAC Events. Any cancellation notice received after 31 January 2008 will receive a 100% penalty of the costs. Therefore no refund will be given to those who do not present themselves at the rally or who withdraw from the rally itself. No refund will be given to those who cannot travel due to lack of valid documentation for participants or for the vehicles. The withdrawing participant or any assistant can be substituted by another person, again, only if the organisation is notified in time and if no problems arise in any way. Art. 12 - Strikes, Natural Disasters, Adverse Weather Conditions, Civil and Military Unrest, Uprisings and Acts of Terrorism: Such events are considered to be circumstances beyond our control and cannot be blamed on the organisers. Any consequent reduction in services or extra cost borne by the participant will not be reimbursed. Consideration will be given to any damage covered by normal insurance requirements. Art. 13 - The Law on Privacy: The name of each participant will be recorded in a database owned by MAC Events. Use of this database will be in accordance to the law governing the protection of personal data (no. 196/03). MAC Events and its associates will use this database for forwarding (by post, telephone, fax or e-mail), information about activities relating to the event, or sponsor advertising. In accordance with Art.7, Law 196/03, participants, or whoever else is in the MAC Events database, can access their data in order to modify, cancel or otherwise oppose its use, by writing a registered letter to: MAC Events, Corso Torino 1/7 16129, Genova (Italy). Art. 14 - Supplementary and Information Circular Letters: The organisers reserve the right to inform those registered of any changes or additions to these General Rules and Regulations as well as any other relevant information through circular letters. Art. 15 - Advertising and Publicity: All forms of advertising and publicity, except that chosen by the organisers is strictly forbidden during the Mille Miglia. Art. 16 - General Provisions: When registering, each participant declares that he/she, the driver, all team members and representatives accept the rules and regulations of the event and waive the right to appeal, for any reason, to arbitrators or courts regarding occurances arising from the organisation or during the course of the event. The CSAI, AC of Milan, FIVA and ASI, the patrons and sponsors of the event, as well as all other organisations involved, all providers of facilities and services along the route covered, the organisers, MAC Events and Meet Comunicazione, as well as all persons employed by these organiseations, take no responsibility for any injury which may occur to any participant, their drivers or employees during the event; nor do they take responsibility for injury resulting from or caused by or to a third party by the participants, their drivers or employees. |
