Coefficients will be decided by using the following criteria, based on the era when the car was designed, and the technical, sporting, and historic attributes of each individual model:
The year of manufacture, or the year of modifications to the car. (The modifications may have been done later, and therefore, the modifications date is not necessarily the year of manufacture.)
The displacement (c.c.) of the car.
The category of the car (Sports Car, Gran Turismo or Touring Car);
A bonus will be applied if the car has participated in or been registered for one of the historic Mille Miglia Speed Races (clear documentation of this must be shown by the competitor upon submittal).
In order to make the calculation of coefficients as objective as possible, the following mathematical formula has been put together, and thus, the final coefficient of the car will be calculated by using the partial coefficients as shown in the tables below. In order to obtain the final coefficient, it will be necessary to insert the partial coefficients for model, period, class, category, and in some cases the chassis bonus into this formula:
Period Coefficient.
This decreases from 1927 to 1957. The 24 historic editions are divided into seven historic periods, each one characterised by a significant change in the specific regulations of the race (RPG) and/or by the introduction of relevant technological innovations.
c.class
Class Coefficient.
This decreases with decreasing nominal displacement (c.c.) calculated without taking into consideration the possible existence of a compressor.
c.category
Category Coefficient.
= 0 for Sports Cars;
= 0,10 for Gran Turismo Cars;
= 0,20 for Touring Cars;
bonus
= 0,10 if this particular car (based on chassis number) has really participated in a historic Mille Miglia Speed Race.
= 0,05 if this particular car (based on chassis number) was entered in a historic Mille Miglia Speed Race, but did not participate.
